Enjoy a wonderful experience while exploring the 85 acre Conservation Area which includes pioneer buildings, beautiful gardens, nature trails, sheltered picnic areas and a charming mill pond.
Five of the original 11 pioneer buildings occupy the site along with additional buildings to represent the lifestyle of the past. These buildings have been restored by dedicated craftsmen and volunteers for the enjoyment of everyone and particularly for those who value the importance of preserving our heritage.
Having completed the new millpond dam in 2011, our main project this year will be the building of an old fashioned Covered Bridge over this structure. It will be post and beam construction complete with wood pegged mortise and tenon joinery. Architechtural drawings are in the proccess and many of the 8x8 timbers and other parts have already been sawn.
Below is a photoshop rendering by Peter Sporring of what the covered bridge should pretty much look like when completed, hopefully for Opening Day in June.
We'll keep you posted on its progress in "News and what's new" & in the photo Gallery.
